Jonas Falck Najbjerg, Denmark, and Karin Stenback, Sweden, in extended lead after four competitions in the World Cup. Jonas has won the three last competitions, and Karin has won all four. Many competitions remain, but the two athletes have a really good position when eight more competitions will follow from July to November this year.
The very hot weekend June 27-28, Denmark (and on Jutland where the competitions were held) had 37 degrees Celsius on Saturday. A new heat record for Denmark!
The organisers were forced to make some changes in the program for the Saturday’s competition due to the heat. The participants from Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Great Britain, started with the location-orienteering followed by the free orienteering in the terrain at Stråsö Plantage, approx. 30 minutes drive by car from the arena with the shooting range. After that, a new start with running and shooting, with prone and standing shooting. In the men’s 21 class, Denmark took all the podium spots. Jonas Falck Najbjerg won, Lasse Falck Weber on second place and Thomas Greve Jensen came on third place.
In the women’s 21 class, Karin Stenback, Sweden, won the third World Cup competition in a row. Nina Falck Najbjerg, Denmark, came second and Astrid Ishöi, Denmark, took the third place.
