Felix Persson, Sweden, is new leder in the Biathlon Orienteering World Cup after six of twelve competitions. New second placed Pontus Fred, Finland, is 20 points behind. Worth mentioning is that forth placed Petja Ylikylä, Finland, currently has four competitions, and three of them are first places.
In the women’s class, Katariina Nurmo, Finland, is the new second, after a first and a second place this weekend. Karin Stenback, Sweden, is still in the lead through her impressive start with four top podium places in a row. Satu Rautianen, Finland, is new third, with a second and a first place in Kärkölä.
The Saturday’s sprint competition offered warm weather and tough orienteering courses. Finland took all of the podium places, in the men’s and in the women’s class. Petja Ylikylä, ahead of Juuso Ketonen, with Antti Iivari on third place. Katariina Nurmo, Finland, won, Satu Rautiainen second, and Pauliina Nurmo third.

Results WC#5, 11 July, Sprint, Kärkölä, Finland
The mass start competition offered courses of 11,6 km in the men’s 21 class and 8,8 km for the women’s 21. A real challenge for all competitors, among with tough terrain and warm weather. The mass start was also Finnish Championship. Petja Ylikylä took a second victory this weekend. Felix Persson, Sweden, was second, and Antii Iivari third. Fourth placed Roope Ruuhiala took the Finnish Championship bronze medal.

In the women’s 21 class Satu Rautianen took a clear victory ahead of Katariina Nurmo, and Caroline Sandelin in third place.
